AE1002 Discovery Course 2/MA1700 Introduction to Aerospace Engineering II (1AU)

Goal: A
Result: A-
Lab Report
Tutor: Prof RC Mehta
Contents:
- Discovery Lab Case Study I: Aerodynamics
- Discovery Lab Case study II: Propulsion
- Discovery Lab Case Study III: Aircraft Structure and Vibration
- Discovery Lab Case Study IV: Water Rocket Propulsion
- Discovery Lab Case Study V: Crash Investigation
- Discovery Lab Case Study VI: Glider Design Competition
Mistakes made:
- Not serious.
- Never research on other possibilities of making glider plane.
- Should have bought a new model so as to experiment with the given model.
Tips for scoring:
- Invest your time and $.
- Research more on making a good glider plane.
- Don't add too much weight to your glider.
- Ensure your glider plane always be in topmost structural integrity.
- Do well for your lab experiments.
- Be serious even if it's 1 AU.

AE2002 Mathematics 3 (3AU)

Mindmap
Notes

Study Techniques: Mindmap
Goal: A+
Result: A+
Tutor: Prof Lin Rong Ming
Contents:
- Probability & Statistics
- Matrix Analysis/Linear Algebra
- Vector Differential Calculus
- Vector Integral Calculus.
How did I study? (Tips for scoring)
- Listen attentively in class and take notes.
- Practice all the questions in the tutorials.
- Do regular practice by attempting most of the textbook problems with answers (for almost all chapters except the last one).
- Do a mindmap to understand overall concept.
- Practice exam papers to gauge exam standard.
- Finish exam paper fast to have time to check answers.
Mistakes made:
- Didn't do well for quiz (should have sleep early instead of depriving sleep for extra revision time).
- Practice questions with tired mind (hence did not absorb concepts well).

AE2006/MA2007 Thermodynamics (4AU)

Mindmap

Study Techniques: Mindmap
Goal: A+
Result: A+
Tutor: Prof Jeffrey Low
Contents:
- Properties of pure substances.
- Work and heat
- Energy and the first law
- Energy balance for closed systems and steady state control volumes
- Second law and entropy
- Entropy balance for closed systems and steady state control volumes
- Thermodynamic cycles for power plants and refrigeration systems
- Ideal gas mixtures and psychrometrics
- Reacting mixtures and combustion
How did I study? (Tips for scoring)
- Read up before every chapter.
- Listen attentively in class and take notes.
- Practice all the questions in the tutorials.
- Do regular practice by attempting textbook problems with answers (for almost all chapters except the last three).
- At first, did my own notes but after the quiz, find that I didn't link my concepts well. Hence did a mindmap to understand the links between concept.
- Practice exam papers to gauge exam standard
Mistakes made:
- Go for lectures with tired mind (hence did not absorb anything and waste time to understand later).
- Enjoy myself too much during tutorials.
- Read up too early before lectures. Should have go for lectures, then read up textbooks and do tutorial and practice to optimally absorb concepts.
- Did not do regular revision (due to time constraints).

- Go for lectures with a tired mind (hence did not absorb anything).
- Did not do regular revision after lectures (most of the concepts learnt are from last minute revision).
- Read up too advance before lectures.
- Focus too much time on doing the CA assignment.
- Attempting the wrong question during exam in the last 30 minutes.
- Mental block during exams (because of over-complex mindmap. Will try to discover a better method of memorising).
